Seville orange polenta cake / Seville Orangen & Polenta Kuchen

I know it is spring and we should change to salad instead of cake. But being pregnant I just fancy cake all the time. So, I had a look through our new Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall cake book and found this beauty. I've made a few times now and everybody in my family loves it!

What you need:
125g polenta; 225g ground almonds; 1tsp baking powder; 1/2 tsp ground cloves; 225g unsalted butter, cut into small pieces and softened; 200 g caster sugar; finely grated zest of 3 Seville oranges; 3 eggs

Was bracht man:
125g Polenta/ 225g gemahlene Mandeln, 1EL Backpulver; 1/2 EL gemahlene Nelken; 225g ungesalzene Butter (in kleine Stücke schneiden); 200g Zucker; geriebene Schalen von 3 Seville Orangen; 3 Eier

1 bowl: Mix polenta; almonds; baking powder together
2nd bowl: mix butter, sugar, half the orange zest & eggs

Than mix both mixtures together and now spoon into prepared tin. Now bake at about 170 degrees for 50 minutes. Meanwhile heat up the orange juice of 3 oranges, 50 g of sugar as well as the rest of the orange zest. When the cake is still hot, poke little wholes into it (with knife or fork) and than drizzle the hot orange mix over it!

Fertig...

Now leave to cool, invite your other pregnant friends and enjoy...yum yum. I have to warn you, this cake is addictive!!!!

Jetzt auskühlen lassen, alle schwangeren Freunde einladen und geniessen. Guten Appetit.

carrot & celeriac salad, banana bread & sage tea

Sounds like an odd combination but I fancied something nice and different and the ingredients were what I had left over on a Sunday...

Delicious and healthy Salad
grated carrots, grated celeriac, pommegranate seads, olive oil, lemon and a little bit of black pepper
Salat
geraspelte Moehren, Sellerie, Granatapfel, Oliven Oil, Zitrone und ein wenig schwarzer Pfeffer

Sage Tea / Salbei Tee
My parents have a sage plant in their garden, so every year just before Winter, I harvest the leaves, dry them and use them for tea. Super healthy and with honey a nice treat.

Bananabread / Bananenbrot
My scales have broken, so I kind of guessed what to put together. I used flower, eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla aroma, 3 bananas and some baking powder. An hour later, this delicious bananabread was ready. Crusty outside and soft inside. Just the way I like it...Yum yum

BettyBrown'sBigChallenge

and here comes the challenge for the next 12 months:

  1. I will try not to buy any new cloths for a whole year (I am starting to panic already thinking about it)
  2. I will try to make all presents myself  (unless I am being dragged into contributing to a present)
  3. I will try to be more creative in the kitchen
Let's go baby...
